“Alice in Wonderland” shadow box made inside a broken IKEA clock / Kijkkastje "Alice in Wonderland" gemaakt in kapotte IKEA klok

 

I was given a broken IKEA clock

At first, I thought about turning it into a clock shop,
but I’d rather make one inside an antique clock.

Ik kreeg een kapotte IKEA klok

In eerste instantie dacht ik er een klokkenwinkel in te maken

maar dat doe ik toch liever in een antieke klok

 

 

 I turned it into an Alice in Wonderland scene

 

Ik heb er Alice in Wonderland in gemaakt

 

 

"Tea party"

 

 

This is how I received the clock

Zo kreeg ik de klok

 

Removed the clock face and glass

 

Wijzerplaat en glas er uit gesloopt

 Painted the clock with a first coat of gesso

 

Met Gesso de klok eerste keer geschilderd

 

Painted it twice with chalk paint in the color “Old English Green.”

 

Met krijtverf kleur "oud Engels groen" 2 x geschilderd 

 

Painted the clock face and hands in antique gold

Downloaded a clock face with teacups and resized it to fit

 

Wijzerplaat en wijzers met de kleur oud goud geschilderd

 

Wijzerplaat met kopjes gedownload en op maat gemaakt

 

 

Glued a teacup in the center and animals around the edge

Theekopje in het midden en beesten op de rand gelijmd

 

Painted a cupcake liner in gold

 

Cupcake bakje goud kleurig geschilderd

 

Decorated the cupcake with paint and cake decorations

 

Met verf en taartdecoratie cupcake versierd

 

Made a little table out of cardboard and printed images

 

Tafeltje gemaakt van karton en gedownloade plaatjes

 

 Glued a spider onto the leg

The “scary” cupcakes were bought from Art of Mini

Spin op de poot gelijmd

 

De "enge" cupcakejes heb ik gekocht bij Art of Mini

 

Downloaded images, resized them, and glued them onto cardboard

 

Plaatjes gedownload, op maat gemaakt en op karton gelijmd

 

I still had some sunflowers, so I painted them gold as well

 

Ik had nog zonnebloemen en heb die ook goud geschilderd

 

 

Glued everything onto and inside the clock, after painting the interior black

 

Alles op en in de klok gelijmd en de binnenkant zwart geschilderd

 

 

 Moss added to the ground

 

Mos op de grond  

 

 Attached the clock face securely with mounting glue

 

De wijzerplaat met montagelijm vast gelijmd 

 

Glued images onto the sides

 

Op de zijkanten plaatjes geplakt

 

And finally, added lighting to the inside of the door

 

En als laatste verlichting aan de binnenkant van de deur gemaakt

 

 

 Just goes to show — you shouldn’t be too quick to throw things away!

 

Zo zie je maar dat je niet te snel iets weg moet gooien
