Dollhouses, dolls, kitchens, shops, and other toys from
1830 to 1960 can be seen at Das Kleine Museum
It all began at Christmas 1975
While searching for a dollhouse stove for their daughter,
they found a beautiful stove in a second-hand shop in Freiburg
Although it was far too large for the dollhouse kitchen,
they bought it anyway, marking the start of a passionate collection
Over the years, the collection grew so much
that they decided to set up a small museum
Today, the collection includes more than 50 dollhouses,
shops, and kitchens from 1830 to 1960,
with a focus on the early exhibitions
There are also dolls and wooden and tin toys from
the Biedermeier period up to the early 1950s
During the presentation of the various exhibitions,
they aim to maintain the highest possible authenticity
Through exhibitions and participation in shows at the castle in Bruchsal,
Dresden, and museums in Hagen and Ulm,
the collection has become well known
The museum has also developed contacts
with other European museums
What to expect:
Visitors of all ages are fascinated by the old toys
The toys reflect miniature versions of domestic culture
and fashion, ranging from simple styles to a wide variety
of historical and decorative styles, from Art Nouveau to the 1950s
Because of the museum’s size, they are able to guide visitors individually
This is also reflected in excerpts from the guestbook:
"Visiting this museum was a very special experience
They understand it well, immediately capturing attention
for the details and providing an inspiring presentation."
