I was over the moon with my first dollhouse / Ik was dolgelukkig met mijn eerste poppenhuis

My first dollhouse was made by my father and mother,

and here I am proudly showing it to the neighbor girls

The dollhouse had a living room, a bedroom, and a kitchen with a rooftop terrace

Unfortunately, this is the only photo I have of my dollhouse

Mijn eerste poppenhuis was gemaakt door mijn vader en

moeder en show ik hier trots aan de buurmeisjes

Het poppenhuis bestond uit een woon- en slaapkamer en

een keuken met dakterras

Dit is helaas de enige foto die ik van mijn poppenhuis heb

The dollhouse was furnished with both handmade and plastic furniture

In 1964, I received a few pieces of Petite Princess furniture,

which I still own today — they are now over 50 years old

The snapdragons were much easier for my hands to make than the hanging geranium

The hanging geranium kit from The Miniature Garden

was quite a challenge to make, because the tiny heart-shaped pieces

were so incredibly small that I could barely pick them up with my tweezers

dat ik ze bijna niet kon vastpakken met mijn pincet

I was on the verge of giving up, but after a little break,

I decided to continue, and this plant is the result

na een tijdje toch maar weer verder gegaan met deze plant als resultaat

The next day, I trimmed some of the flowers and added new ones

because I still wasn’t completely satisfied, resulting in the plant you see below

De volgende dag heb ik er weer bloemen afgeknipt en nieuwe toegevoegd

omdat ik nog niet erg tevreden was met als eindresultaat onderstaande plant

I thought it would be fun to turn it into a potted plant for my dollhouse

I’ve completed my first kit now, and I really enjoyed making it

finally in the pot, but I’m happy with the end result
