The beginning of my fairy tale book is here… / Het begin van mijn sprookjesboek is er...

The story and the witch’s house are finished, so I’ve now 

started making the book for my grandchildren

It’s really fun to finally see the end result of the imagination

that’s been in my head for a long time

I spent three days photographing before I was satisfied with the 

29 pictures that go with the story

There’s still a lot you can do with Photoshop

Het verhaal en het heksenhuis zijn klaar dus ik ben

nu begonnen met het maken van het boek

voor mijn kleinkinderen

Erg leuk om nu het eindresultaat te kunnen zien

van de fantasie die al lang in mijn hoofd zit

Ik ben 3 dagen aan het fotograferen geweest voordat

ik tevreden was over de 29 foto`s die

bij het verhaal passen

Met Photoshop kun je nog een hoop doen

— complete with lights behind the windows

My husband is very skilled at that and helps me with it

These photos were taken from the computer screen with my phone, 

so they’re not at their best quality

Zoals een heksenhuis in mijn tuin ineens in een donker bos

laten staan met zelfs verlichting achter de ramen

Mijn man is hier erg handig in en helpt me daarbij

Deze foto`s zijn vanaf de computer genomen met 

mijn telefoon dus niet op zijn mooist

The first five pages are now more or less finished — only 24 to go

In the story, my grandsons play the main roles, and I’ve included things they enjoy

For example, we often sing the Pinocchio song together at the top of our lungs

 — and now the witch sings it with her cat

De eerste 5 pagina`s zijn nu voorlopig klaar, nog 24 te gaan

In het verhaal spelen mijn kleinzoons de hoofdrol en ik heb

er dingen in verwerkt die zij leuk vinden

Zo zingen we b.v. samen heel hard het lied van Pinokkio

en dat doet de heks nu met haar kat

Thanks to the coronavirus lockdown, I finally had the time to 

make the witch’s house and all the miniatures

Dankzij de coronacrisis heb ik nu alle tijd gehad om

het heksenhuis en de miniaturen te maken

And now my long-time wish to make a children’s book is coming true.

So the coronavirus crisis brought something good after all…

Nu komt dan ook nog eens mijn jarenlange wens uit

om een kinderboek te maken

Levert de coronacrisis ook nog iets leuks op...

Working miniature train, scale 1:12, for the dollhouse / Rijdend miniatuur treintje schaal 1:12 voor het poppenhuis

This working little train is placed on a table specially 

designed for the dollhouse by Bert Aarts

Bert hasn’t been giving workshops for years, and his webshop has also disappeared.

The train table had been on my wish list for years, and now

 I’ve finally managed to get the instructions and materials

It’s going to be a new challenge for me, since I’m about as technical as a dish brush!

Bert geeft al jaren geen workshops meer en ook zijn

 

webshop is verdwenen

De treintafel stond al jaren op mijn verlanglijstje en nu heb ik

 

alsnog de werkbeschrijving en het materiaal

 

 in mijn bezit gekregen 

Het wordt een nieuw uitdaging want ik ben zo

 

technisch als een afwasborstel

My witch’s house 🧙‍♀️, which I made especially for a 

fairy-tale book for my grandchildren, is finished

It was quite a challenge to make the whole thing out of cardboard, 

but I managed in the end

It turned out just the way I imagined it—and even the roof 

made of bat wings worked out! 🦇

Mijn heksenhuis 🧙‍♀️ ,dat ik speciaal heb gemaakt voor een

 

sprookjesboek voor mijn kleinkinderen, is klaar

Een hele uitdaging om het geheel van karton te maken

 

maar het is me uiteindelijk toch gelukt

Het is geworden zoals ik het in mijn hoofd had en zelfs

 

het dak van vleermuisvleugels is gelukt 🦇

The bed, room divider, and dressing table are, just like the house, 

also made of cardboard

Het bed, kamerscherm, toilettafel zijn  net 

 

als het huis ook van karton gemaakt

I also used leftover materials and revamped some old furniture

Verder afvalmateriaal gebruikt en oude meubeltjes gepimpt

 

 

All the labels and little books were handmade by me

Etiketten en boekjes allemaal zelf gemaakt

The living room is dark and spooky

De woonkamer is eng en donker

The fireplace and cabinet are made of cardboard

The bedroom is pink and romantic, because the witch in 

the fairy tale actually wants to be a ballet dancer

De slaapkamer roze en romantisch want de heks in

 

het sprookje wil eigenlijk balletdanseres zijn 

The ballet shoes and the box are also made of 

cardboard, ribbon, fabric, and beads

Ook de balletschoentjes en doos zijn gemaakt 

 

van karton, lint, stof en kraaltjes
