Made a painter’s easel in 1:12 scale out of wooden stirrers / Schildersezel schaal 1:12 gemaakt van roerhoutjes

I’m going to make a studio in a display box and started by making the painter’s easel

Ik ga een atelier in een kijkkastje maken en ben begonnen met

de schildersezel te maken

You’ll need: wooden stirrers, a ruler, scissors or a sharp knife, 

glue, paint, and a small bead

Je hebt nodig: Roerhoutjes, liniaal, schaar of scherp mes, lijm, verf, kraaltje

Paint or stain the wooden stirrers in your desired color

Start by placing two full stirrers at an angle, cut the connecting pieces to size, 

and glue them in place

Then cut one stirrer straight across to the right size for the center piece

Make small holes in it about every 3 mm (by piercing or drilling) and glue it in place

Je begint met 2 hele roerhoutjes schuin te leggen, maak de tussen houtjes op

maat en lijmt die vast

Daarna knip je een roerhoutje recht af en op maat voor in het midden

Hier prik of boor je om de 3mm kleine gaatjes in en lijm hem vast

Cut three sticks to the same length and glue them together in a U shape,

this will hold the painting

Cut two small pieces and glue them together

Attach them to the top of the middle stirrer and glue a bead on top

Knip 3 houtjes op dezelfde lengte af en lijm die in de vorm van een U vast

In de U vorm kan het schilderij staan

Knip 2 kleine stukjes en lijm die op elkaar

Bevestig deze op het middelste roerhoutje aan de bovenkant

 en plak er een kraal op

Glue one stirrer diagonally to the back so the easel can stand upright

Lijm een roerhoutje schuin aan de achterkant zodat de ezel kan staan

Finally, splatter or dab some paint on it

Als laatste klieder je er verf op

Made an “Alice in Wonderland” scene inside a hollowed-out book / "Alice in Wonderland" sscene in uitgehold boek gemaakt

This time I didn’t make miniatures for the dollhouse,
but hollowed out an old book instead

When my friend Margje starts decluttering,
she always asks me first if I can use something

As you can imagine, I can almost always use it!

That’s how I ended up with a bag full of very old books
with beautiful linen covers

Dit keer heb ik geen miniaturen gemaakt voor het poppenhuis 

maar een oud boek uitgehold

Als mijn vriendin Margje op gaat ruimen vraagt

ze altijd eerst of ik het kan gebruiken

Jullie snappen wel dat ik het bijna

altijd kan gebruiken

Zo kwam ik dus aan een tas vol met hele oude

boeken met een mooie linnen kaft

I coated the edges with bookbinding glue

Met boekbinderslijm heb ik de zijkanten ingesmeerd

Make sure to use a sharp knife and a metal ruler

Zorg voor een goed scherp mes en een ijzeren liniaal

Once it’s cut deep enough, smooth the edges and coat them with glue

Als het diep genoeg is uitgesneden de randen glad maken en insmeren met lijm

I first glued on the pages with Alice and the forest

Ik heb eerst de pagina`s erop geplakt van Alice en het bos

Then I glued the cutouts onto cardboard for sturdiness and cut them out

I still had a little bag of animals, grass, and twigs, which I attached with all-purpose glue

Daarna de losse dingen op karton gelijmd voor de stevigheid  en uitgeknipt

Ik had nog een zakje beesten, gras en takjes en dit met alleslijm bevestigd

Made a snow shovel from a tealight cup, a piece of corrugated cardboard from

 a cookie package, silver paint, and a skewer stick

Fortunately, the shovel can almost be put away again now that the thaw has started!

Ik heb Friese doorlopers in schaal 1:12 gemaakt

Het zijn typisch Nederlandse schaatsen

Making the skates was part of a workshop by Sylvia de Groot

Because I ran out of time that day, I finished them at home

De schaatsen maken was een onderdeel van een workshop van Sylvia de Groot

Door tijdgebrek die dag heb ik ze thuis gemaakt

I spent hours filing and sanding to get the right shape, but I’m happy with the result

Ik heb uren gevijld en geschuurd om het model er in te krijgen maar ben tevreden met het resultaat

Around 1875, the Frisian “doorloper” was developed from the 

traditional wooden skates of the time

By around 1900, the Frisian doorloper started to become popular

Rond 1875 werd de Friese doorloper ontwikkeld vanuit de dan  

gangbare houten schaatsen

Rond 1900 begon de Friese doorloper populair te worden

A Frisian “doorloper” is a wooden skate with a single blade

 that’s tied underneath the shoe

Een Friese doorloper is een houten schaats met één ijzer die 

onder de schoen gebonden wordt

Although all wooden skates are often called Frisian doorlopers,
the true Frisian doorloper is a skate in which the blade runs all the way to the heel

Hoewel alle houten schaatsen vaak Friese doorloper worden genoemd, 

 is de echte Friese doorloper een schaats waarbij het ijzer helemaal

 tot onder de hak doorloopt

Shop with household goods and toys scale 1:12 / Winkel met huishoudelijke artikelen en speelgoed "Nieuwe Bazar" Anno 1929 is geopend

My grandparents opened their shop, “Nieuwe Bazar,” in 1929,
which they had built entirely according to their own wishes

Mijn opa en oma opende in 1929 hun winkel "Nieuwe Bazar"

die ze geheel naar hun eigen wens hadden laten bouwen

They sold household goods, toys, paintings, washing machines, 

statues of Mary, and so on.

Ze verkochten huishoudelijke artikelen, speelgoed, schilderijen,

wasmachines, Maria beelden enz.

In memory of my grandparents, I made this little shop

I hope it will stay in the family, and that’s why I attached a plastic sleeve to the back

I’ve written down everything I know about my grandparents and their shop, added photos, 

and included the advertisements I was able to find online in the sleeve

Ter herinnering aan mijn opa en oma heb ik dit winkeltje gemaakt

Ik hoop dat het winkeltje in de familie blijft en daarom heb ik op de 

achterkant een insteekhoes geplakt

Ik heb alles wat ik weet over mijn opa en oma en de winkel opgeschreven, 

foto`s erbij gedaan en de advertenties die ik online heb 

kunnen vinden in de hoes gedaan

I made the street name sign and house number myself

On the back of the shop window, I included the shop’s logo

Het straatnaambordje en huisnummer heb ik gemaakt

Aan de achterkant van de etalage heb ik het logo van de winkel verwerkt

I embroidered the tea cosy myself — on one side there’s a basket with pink roses, 

and on the other side, blue hydrangeas

De theemuts heb ik geborduurd met aan de ene kant een mand met 

roze rozen en aan de andere kant blauwe hortensia`s

The shop is open... Shall we go inside?

De winkel is geopend... Ga je mee naar binnen?

I made the cabinet, counter, and shelves out of 2 mm thick cardboard

Ik heb de kast, toonbank en planken gemaakt van 2mm dik karton

I made the box with the train, the advertisement, the washboard, all the 

little boxes in the shop, the Brasso and Silvo bottles, and the 

Delft blue plates on the wall — all by myself

Het doosje met de trein, reclame, wasbord, alle doosjes in de winkel, 

Brasso en Silvo flesjes en de Delfts blauwe borden aan

de wand heb ik allemaal zelf gemaakt

The beautiful little roller skates were made by Wim van Soest

De prachtige rolschaatsjes zijn gemaakt door Wim van Soest

I downloaded the tiled floor design, resized it, printed it out, and glued it onto the floor

De tegelvloer heb ik gedownload en op maat gemaakt, 

uitgeprint en op de vloer gelijmd

I spread glue on the roof, sprinkled gravel over it, and attached the skylight

Lijm op het dak gesmeerd en grind er op uitgestrooid en het dakraam bevestigd

I made the pavement from a foam board and cut tiles into it to size

It’s painted in various colours and finished with a touch of “weeds.”

De stoep heb ik van een foamplaat gemaakt en tegels op maat erin gesneden

Geschilderd met diverse kleuren en voorzien van "onkruid"
