Miniature Ice Skates “Friese Doorlopers” Made in 1:12 Scale 

In the top photo, they’re displayed on my own vintage Friese doorlopers

 These are typical traditional Dutch skates, instantly recognizable by their elegant, 

elongated blades — a nostalgic touch of Dutch winter charm in miniature form

The skates were part of the Christmas stall workshop

 by Sylvia de Groot, but I made them at home

De schaatsen maken was een onderdeel van de workshop kerstkraam

van Sylvia de Groot maar heb ik thuis gemaakt

I spent hours filing and sanding to get the right shape,
but I’m happy with the result

Ik heb uren moeten vijlen en schuren om het model er in te

krijgen maar ben tevreden met het resultaat

Around 1875, the Friese doorloper (Frisian runner skate) was 

developed from the wooden skates that were common at the time

By 1900, the Friese doorloper had become increasingly popular

A Friese doorloper is a type of wooden skate with a single blade, 

which is tied underneath the shoe

Although all wooden skates are often called Friese doorlopers, 

the true Friese doorloper is the one where the blade runs all the way to the heel

Rond 1875 werd de Friese doorloper ontwikkeld vanuit de dan

gangbare houten schaatsen

Rond 1900 begon de Friese doorloper populair te worden

Een Friese doorloper is een type houten schaats, met één ijzer,

die onder de schoen gebonden wordt

Hoewel alle houten schaatsen vaak Friese doorloper worden genoemd,

is de echte Friese doorloper een schaats waarbij het ijzer

helemaal tot onder de hak doorloopt

There was a clear instruction included, so that wasn’t a problem

were workshops I won from Silly Sisters

Er zat een goede beschrijving bij dus dat was geen probleem

De kerstboom, kerstster en kerst doosjes waren workshops

die ik heb gewonnen bij Silly Sisters

The miniature diorama was an online workshop

Het miniatuur kijkkastje was een online workshop

I made the other items myself, and I bought a

few miniatures such as the sleigh and the little horse
