them twice and finished with varnish

I assembled and finished the kits I had ordered
Ordered on Friday and received on Saturday—so, very fast delivery!
It came with clear, easy-to-follow instructions
I first coated the kits with gesso, then painted
them twice and finished with varnish
I’m very happy with this little staircase for the dollhouse library
The residents can now easily reach the books on the top shelf
I bought a white iron rocking cradle for the nursery
The paint on the bed wasn’t fully even, so I repainted
it white and added some gold accents
Now I still need to make a mattress and bedding
I also want to make a canopy for the cradle,
but I’m not sure yet how to go about it
From now on, chess can be played in the
dollhouse library on this beautiful chess table
I made this clothes rack from a kit by McQueenie Miniatures,
and it’s very easy to assemble
The holes are already there, so it’s just a matter of applying
some wood glue and pressing the pieces together
Afterwards, I varnished the rack because it brings
the wood more to life, which I think looks nicer
The clothes rack will be placed in the attic so the
ironed clothes can be neatly hung there
I bought a little bar cabinet from
Bespaq for the dollhouse library
The wine cooler with ice cubes and a bottle of
champagne fits on top, and all the other necessities
for a drink fit inside the cabinet
The children of the dollhouse now have so many toys
that it was high time for a new cabinet
I made the miniature theater on top of the cabinet myself,
using a construction sheet that I reduced to 1:12 scale
The cabinet was made of untreated wood when purchased
and was crafted by Jan Slagter of “Het Klein Meubelparadijs”
I stained the trestles and tabletop several times and then
varnished them, and now it stands in the attic laundry room
In antique dollhouses, the attic laundry room often also
has tabletops on trestles, like the one below in the
dollhouse of Petronella Dunois
at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam
Here, the maid would fold the linens,
and sometimes the table was also used for ironing
Schragen en blad voor het beitsen
I painted this little cabinet, and it will soon hang
above the changing table in the nursery
The water jug, towels, and little shoes
will then be within easy reach
I painted the changing table white with gold knobs,
and it now stands in the dollhouse nursery,
where Timothée is ready to be changed
I’ve filled the changing table with diapers and baby clothes
The changing table was untreated wood when purchased
Doesn’t the dollhouse maid get a beautiful box bed?
I saw this box bed for sale online in blue and
thought the model was very beautiful,
but the color didn’t fit my dollhouse
I showed the bed to my friend and said how
much I wished it were available in natural wood
She emailed the maker to ask if he could
make it in natural wood, and it was possible
To my great surprise, she then gave me this beautiful
box bed, which I was able to finish entirely to my own taste
I stained it several times and then varnished it
Afterwards, I made a mattress with a little sheet and,
from romantic fabric, the duvet, bolster pillow, and little curtain
All the doors and drawers of the box bed can be opened,
and I think it’s a wonderful addition to
the attic room of my dollhouse
This little dollhouse dresser is over 30 years old and
was originally made from paint-stirring sticks
It used to be pink and had seen plenty of playtime,
so it was definitely ready for a makeover
Now freshly refurbished, it fits perfectly in my dollhouse
and has found its new home in the bathroom
The table I originally bought for the kitchen has been
moved to the pantry in the dollhouse cellar
I ultimately preferred to place this table in
the kitchen because it also has drawers
The kitchen is starting to look cozy now that
the furniture and food items are in place
I stained a plain wooden “wine table”
and it now stands in the dollhouse library next to the armchairs
From their cozy seats, they can easily reach for a glass of wine
I stained and varnished a plain wooden kitchen cabinet for my dollhouse
This cabinet will soon be placed next to the gas stove,
so the herbs are within easy reach while cooking
A large string of garlic hangs from the cabinet
At the bottom of the cabinet are baskets with mushrooms,
mussels, and green asparagus, so a real treat awaits
The moment the piece arrived, I grabbed my sandpaper
and began prepping it, already imagining the finished look
Once sanded, I gave it two coats of white
paint for a fresh, clean base
To add a touch of character, I painted the copper-colored knobs
and towel bars in a zinc shade, giving them a subtly aged effect
I “marbled” the top surface
I had never done it before, but I really enjoyed trying it out
I crafted the tiny towels from a small piece
of cotton and a touch of lace
The little glass jar with a silver lid is actually
made from two beads glued together
All the other miniatures were carefully chosen
and purchased to complete the scene
I was so happy with the plate cabinet I received as a
gift for my dollhouse that I immediately started filling it
The cabinet I had originally bought for the clean linens
in the attic is now placed in the kitchen and fits nicely under the plate rack
Sausages and kitchen utensils are now hanging from the rod beneath the rack
The coffee grinder (Reutter) can actually turn
and I have glued it to the side of the rack
The shelves are filled with pots, dishes, and cutlery
