I customized the white birdcage for the salon of my dollhouse
by painting it several times in antique gold

This Victorian birdcage consists of three towers and is called “Cathedral”
The model was made at the end of the 19th century

Inside the cage, there is a parakeet and a robin
In de kooi zit een parkiet en een roodborstje
Normally, you wouldn’t see a robin in a birdcage,
but this is in memory of my father
He used to always sing the song to me:
“There's a little robin tapping at the window”
Normaal zie je geen roodborstje in een vogelkooi maar
dat is ter herinnering aan mijn vader
Hij zong vroeger namelijk altijd het liedje voor me:
“Er tikt een roodborstje aan het raam”
I placed two French newspapers, Le Petit Journal from 1900,
on the bottom of the cage
Op de bodem heb ik twee Franse kranten Le Petit Journal
uit 1900 op de bodem gelegd
I made the bird food from finely ground and mixed
salad herbs, pepper, and curry
I put a little glue on the dish and then
carefully sprinkled the herbs on top
Het vogelvoer heb ik gemaakt van fijn gemaakte
en gemixte saladekruiden, peper en kerrie
Een beetje lijm op het schoteltje gedaan en toen
voorzichtig wat kruiden erop gestrooid
I filled the water dish with scenic water
