 I made this 1950s-style cabinet

It’s a design by Ans Luster

My grandmother had the exact same cabinet,
which made it extra fun to make 

 

The Medinilla (plant) on the cabinet is made out of rice paper.

 

Ik heb dit Jaren 50 kastje gemaakt

Het is een ontwerp van Ans Luster 

Mijn oma had precies hetzelfde kastje en daarom

vond ik het extra leuk om te maken

 De medinella (plant) op de kast heb ik van rijstpapier gemaakt

The lantern with cabinet and desk chair in 1:12 scale is finished / De lantaarn met kast en bureaustoel schaal 1:12 is klaar

The cabinet and desk chair I was making are finished, 

and I placed them inside a lantern

I’m giving it to my husband as a gift for when he retires

De kast en bureaustoel die ik aan het maken was 

zijn klaar en ik heb ik in een lantaarn gezet

Mijn man krijgt hem cadeau van me als hij met pensioen gaat

On the chair lies a fairy tale book, and on the floor are 

toy blocks as a reference to the grandchildren

Op de stoel ligt een sprookjesboek en op de grond

blokken als verwijzing naar de kleinkinderen

 

Except for the teacup and the flowerpot, I made everything myself

The pot holding the pencils was originally a bottle cap, 

and I made the clock from an old button

Everything else I downloaded, resized, and printed on photo paper

I also incorporated his hobbies into the scene

Ik heb op het theekopje en de bloempot na alles zelf gemaakt

De pot waar de potloden in staan was een dopje en de klok

heb ik gemaakt van een oude knoop

Verder alles gedownload, op maat gemaakt en 

geprint op fotopapier

Verder heb ik er zijn hobby`s in verwerkt

I reduced and copied the printables to make a banner, then cut them out

Printables verkleind en gekopieerd tot vlag en uitgeknipt

And glued them all around the lantern

En rondom op de lantaarn gelijmd

Crafts made by my grandson — reduced in size

Knutsels van kleinzoon verkleind

Made a toy block box lid from stir sticks and a printable

Van roerstokjes en printable deksel van blokkendoos gemaakt

Made contents for the desk cabinet in 1:12 scale / Inhoud voor de bureaukast gemaakt schaal 1:12

I reupholstered the desk chair and painted the base

Made binders and added years that are meaningful to us

Also made another laptop, a phone, a clock, pencils, stationery, and books

Ik heb de bureaustoel opnieuw bekleed en de poot geschilderd

Ordners gemaakt en daar jaartallen opgezet die belangrijk voor ons zijn

Andere laptop gemaakt en een telefoon, klok, potloden,

briefpapier en boeken

 with clothes brushes and a comb tray

 A bit of nostalgia, because we used to have one hanging in our hallway too
