Mantelpiece, 1:12 scale, marbled, for the dollhouse library / Schouw schaal 1:12 gemarmerd voor de bibliotheek van het poppenhuis
I marbled the mantelpiece for the dollhouse library
and painted the decorations gold
Then I varnished it twice with water-based gloss varnish
I made the wall behind the mantelpiece from thick
cardboard and covered it with brick-patterned paper
I rubbed the back wall with ash to create
the black “soot” that forms when wood burns
I copied the fireplace plate from Google,
reduced its size, cut it out, and glued it onto cardboard
Now I still need to make a surround in
which the mantelpiece will fit
